The Story of Raine

Raine tried to appear interested and then realized they were leaving the city and were out in the countryside.  “Where are we going now?”

“I have one more thing I have to show you.”

“But don’t you think we had better get back to your parents’ house?”

“We will after this place.”  He stopped the car after turning down a wooded lane.  There was a gate with a lock on it.  He picked out a key on his key ring and unlocked the gate.

She could not imagine why they were driving down a narrow lane in a wooded area.  “Don’t tell me you bought some property that you’re going to surprise me with.”

“All right, I won’t tell you that.”

“So how much farther is it to this place?”

“Just a little.” Anthony’s demeanor seemed completely different.  Raine glanced over at him and saw how firm his jaw was set.  There was a look about him that alarmed her.  She began to feel uneasy.  Then she saw ‘it’.  But what was ‘it’?
