Raine is Glenda J. Brown’s first novel. It is based on the impact hurricane Camille had on small communities close to Charlottesville, Virginia where she and her husband lived in 1969.

The fact that people, vehicles, and animals disappeared in the flood waters never to be seen or heard from again touched her heart. She decided to create a fictional story about such a tragedy.

Glenda served as an elementary school teacher for 27 years in several states including Illinois, Virginia, Iowa, and Missouri.

While a teacher in Charlottesville, she served as a Master Teacher providing mentorship to several student teachers from the University of Virginia. One particular interest was a special unit of study of United States Presidents tailored to grade level ranging from first to sixth grade. Other favorite memorable experiences were organizing school trips to state capitols and various presidential memorials which was many children’s first exposure to historical places or political concepts. Glenda was selected by former students to be recognized in the 1990, 1992, and 2000 listing of Who’s Who of Among America's Teachers.

Glenda lives with her husband Jerry near Callao, Missouri. They are the proud parents of 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

Besides writing, Glenda enjoys canning, embroidering, quilting, doting on grandchildren, and reading novels.

I will be presenting a brief review, book sale, and signing of my novel, The Story of Raine, at the Macon Public Library in Macon, MO on Saturday December 2nd.

A signed copy would make an excellent gift for the special avid reader whether a friend or family member!
